Bluebird Visitors to Huntsville Botanical Garden

Eastern Bluebirds are visiting the Huntsville Botanical Garden in search of new home sites.  They can be seen foraging for insects in the South Meadow and along the Nature & Bush Azalea Trails. They are investigating home sites in some of the forty predator protected nest boxes installed within the Garden meadows.  Last year six families nested and raised their young in houses placed throughout the Garden along the Birding Trail.  The males attract females by carrying material in and out of the nests, but females do the majority of nest building and incubation of the eggs. A pair may raise more than one brood each season.  Visitors walking along the Birding Trail can enjoy the beautiful, graceful flights of the Eastern Bluebirds.
